ABOUT US
The Australian Government estimates that over 5 million tonnes of food ends up in landfill every year, enough to fill 9,000 Olympic-size swimming pools. At the same time, approximately 3 kids in every classroom across Australia are turning up to school hungry each day.
Snacktember helps to reduce food waste and feed hungry kids by collecting unwanted snacks and pantry items. Through our partnership with OzHarvest, all the food donations are redistributed to hungry kids, instead of ending up in the bin.
Since it started, Snacktember has collected over 750 kgs of snacks to share with the disadvantaged and those facing food insecurity. Our supporters have organised collections right across Australia, in schools, offices, gyms and even in their homes. These collections have helped to contribute to the delivery of more than 500 meals for hungry kids.
It is easy to get involved and we would love to have your support. Together we can make sure that every Aussie kid has snacks!
About Lennox
Lennox Wade started Snacktember when she was 3 years old. Her Mum had been complaining about all the uneaten chips in the cupboard and Lennox remembered that her pre-school teachers had shared with her that some kids aren’t lucky enough to have a yummy lunch every day. It was then that she had a brilliant idea to solve both problems. And so Snacktember was born.
Since she started, Lennox has grown Snacktember from a single collection at her pre-school to collections all over Australia. Her story has been featured on major TV channels and she has been invited to speak at major events. She was even featured in OzHarvests International Women’s Day campaign for 2020, alongside such inspirational women as Ronni Khan and Kylie Kwong.
With grand plans to grow Snack Crusading into a global movement, Lennox is certainly one to watch.
